Best known for its: strong red crepe-like summer flowers, cold tolerance, high mildew resistance, being one of the newest introductions from the U.S. National Arboretum.

Origin: United States National Arboretum Introduction. 'Arapaho' is the first hybrid cultivar developed from the hybridization of three species of Lagerstroemia: L. indica, L. fauriei, and L. limii.

Growth habit: deciduous, upright, multi-stemmed, fast vigorous growth
Flower color: near true red
Foliage: glossy, dark green tinged with maroon
