Plant family + type: Lythraceae - large deciduous summer flowering tree
Origin: Orig. in 1972 from a cross of (L. indica DWARF RED x L. fauriei) X (L. indicaLOW FLAME x L. fauriei). Selected in 1977. Introduced in 1987 by the U.S. National Arboretum; NA 54974; PI 499820. Name registered May 1, 1992.
Mildew resistance: high
Growth habit: deciduous, upright, multi-stemmed, fast vigorous growth
Flower color: pale pink, continuous recurrent bloom
Foliage: glossy, dark green
Bark: mottled light gray and brown, exfoliating
Autumn foliage color: orange, red, yellow
Blooming period: summer, autumn for approximately 80 days
Preferences: full sun, well-drained soils, good air circulation, soil pH: 5.0-6.5
Excellent choice for: specimen, Flowering accent tree, avenue plantings, groves
