Best known for its: large displays of light lavender, crepe-like summer flowers, cold tolerance, high mildew resistance, fast vigorous growth, prolonged blooming
Plant family + type: Lythraceae - large deciduous summer flowering tree
Origin: United States National Arboretum Introduction. A cross in 1964 of L. indica PINK LACE x L. fauriei. Selected in 1969. Introduced in 1978.
Mildew resistance: very high
Growth habit: deciduous, vigorous, upright, broad-spreading canopy, multiple-stemmed
Flower color: light lavender with recurrent flowering
Foliage: semi-gloss, dark green
Bark: mottled, grayish-brown
Autumn foliage color: shades of red and yellow
Blooming period: summer, autumn for approximately 110 days
Preferences: full sun, well-drained soils, good air circulation, soil pH: 5.0-6.5
Excellent choice for: specimen, summer flowering accent tree, groves, screens
