Plant family + type: Lythraceae - large deciduous summer flowering tree
Origin: Townhouse was discovered as a chance seedling of Lagerstroemia fauriei Fantasy. It was developed and introduced by North Carolina State University Arboretum in 1986.
Mildew resistance: high
Growth habit: deciduous, upright, spreading, fast, vigorous, blooms on new growth
Flower color: pure white, the flowers were developed smaller so they do not weigh down the branches
Foliage: medium to dark green
Bark: dark rusty brown to cinnamon red-brown, exfoliating
Autumn foliage color: brilliant golden yellow
Blooming period: summer, autumn
Preferences: full sun, well-drained soils, good air circulation, soil pH: 5.0-6.5
Excellent choice for: summer flowering accent tree, specimen tree, groves, small courtyards & patios
