Origin: United States National Arboretum Introduction . Originated in 1972 from the hybridization of (L. indica Pink Lace x L. fauriei) x (L. amabilis Makino x L. indica Hardy Light Pink x L. indica Red). Selected in 1976. Introduced in 1987.

Growth habit: deciduous, upright, broad spreading crown, multiple-stemmed
Flower color: lavender and purple blend
Foliage: dark green
Bark: light gray, mottled, exfoliating bark
Autumn foliage color: shades of yellow and orange
