Origin: Orig. in 1972 from the cross of (L. indica DWARF RED x L. fauriei) X L. indica LOW FLAME. Selected in 1977 and intro. in 1986 by U.S. National Arboretum. Name registered May 1, 1992.

Growth habit: deciduous, globose, semi-dwarf, multiple-stemmed shrub
Flower color: medium lavender
Foliage: glossy dark green
Bark: exfoliating branches and trunk gray then light brown & gray
Autumn foliage color: red to orange-red
Blooming period: summer, autumn (July-Sept)
Preferences: full sun, well-drained soils, good air circulation, soil pH: 5.0-6.5
Excellent choice for: specimen, flowering accent shrub/tree, groves, screens, gardens
