Origin: Originally patented in 1978 as PINK BLUSH. This plant was originally registered December 15, 1980, and published in The Lagerstroemia Handbook/Checklist, AABGA, p. 42-43. 1978, as PINK BLUSH. A request by the originator to change the name to DELTA BLUSH was made in a letter dated December 10, 1981. At that time the request was denied. In accordance with Article 14.3, International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants-1995, p. 17, 1995, the name DELTA BLUSH is now the accepted epithet.
